With the tagline "linking Hangzhou to the world," Hangzhou is to strengthen ties with the rest of the world and to build platforms for exchanges. Celebrations this year are seeing an array of forums, council meetings and themed exhibitions showcasing the city's increasing international appeal and achievements in intercultural exchange from Sept.4 to 9.

The first English-language newspaper in Hangzhou was officially published on the ceremony. Sponsored by the Publicity Department of Hangzhou Municipal Party Committee and run by the City Express, Hangzhoufeel is a four-page bi-weekly published every other Thursday dedicated to English readers at home and abroad to showcase the progress and achievement of Hangzhou in the backdrop of its increasingly globalized environment as well as to cater to their everyday needs of rich lifestyle in the city.

Hangzhou has established Twin Cities relations with 30 cities of 25 countries and established international friendship cities with 46 cities. The international exhibition area featuring 19 countries including Argentina, Australia, Bulgaria, Colombia, South Korea, India, Turke, and C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group is set up in the south square of Hangzhou Citizen Center from Sept 5 to 8, with cultural product displays and distinctive performances from each country.

About the Hangzhou International Day:

A proposal concerning setting up Hangzhou International Day was passed at the eleventh session of the Standing Committee of the 13th Hangzhou People's Congress on April 27, 2018, in which the Act of Promoting the Internationalization of Hangzhou City officially confirmed every September 5th, the closing day of the 2016 G20 Hangzhou Summit, as "Hangzhou International Day". It is the first regional act regarding the city’s further engagement in the global market in China. As another innovative measure of opening up and accelerating globalization, it marks another firm step forward in making Hangzhou a world-famous city with unique charm and splendor.
