All the venues for the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022 will be powered by green energy, according to a statement released by the State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power Co., Ltd. on Nov. 10. This will be the first time in the history of the Asian Games to achieve green power coverage. The power department will introduce clean energy such as hydropower, wind power, and photovoltaic power through theWest-to-EastPowerTransmission project. "In the Asian Games area, we will vigorously promote large-scale electricity transmission from the west to the east,"said Wu Zhenjie, Director of the Dispatch Control Center of the State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power. "Electric cars will be used for transportation, andphotovoltaic power supply will be widely promoted in various venues." In addition to the large-scale introduction of clean energy, Hangzhou will also install photovoltaic systems on the roofs of some buildings in the core area of the Asian Games, and install an air-source heat pump system that can convert air energy into heat. After comprehensive regulation, the annual renewable energy capacity is expected to be greater than or equal to the annual building usage. It is expected that during the Asian Games, the green power supply of 58 venues and the Asian Games village will reach 40 million kilowatt-hours, equivalent to reducing 4,900 tonnes of standard coal and 12,200 tonnes of carbon dioxide. |
