2019 Hangzhou West Lake Rowing Race was unveiled on Sept. 7.

Teams from world top universities were engaging in the competition, including Peking University, Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, University of Sydney, University of California, Los Angeles, University of Amsterdam and University of Copenhagen.

The team from University of Amsterdam from the Netherlands won the men's gold medal and the team from University of Sydney from Australia won the first place on the women's competition.

Besides, teams from Hangzhou Jianlan Middle School were also involved this year to enjoy the rowing race.

The rowing team of Hangzhou Jianlan Middle School was founded in 2017, which is the first junior-high-school rowing team in China. The team just won the silver medal at 2019 China National Middle School Rowing Competition, where they defeated a great number of high school racers.

“It is the third time that we are rowing on the West Lake but the first time to compete with college students,” said Zhang Liang, director of student management department of the school.
