Mid-Autumn Festival is approaching. Which places will become the hottest getaway destinations inside and outside China?

According to data from Feizhu, Alibaba's travel portal, on Aug 16, the first day train tickets for the holiday went on sale, tickets for Chinese cities were among the most popular, as Caijing reported.

The data further showed that inter-provincial journeys of three-to-four hours in North and Central China and Guangdong province were among the most popular.

Some intra-provincial tickets in Guangdong sold out.

According to the data, tourists who plan to spend the holiday in Macao, Japan, and South Korea are expected to surge by 50 percent from a year earlier.

Destinations within a four-hour flight from China such as Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore will also see significant increases in tourist numbers.

Feizhu also gave data of hotel bookings for domestic Chinese destinations.
