Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province is set to host the third China International Tea Expo from May 15 to 19, the organizers said on March 1.

Themed on "Tea and the world, share development", this year's expo will cover an area of 70,000 square meters and include an exhibition hall, an international tea hall, a provincial comprehensive tea hall, a commercial hall and an experience area.

As this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the exhibition will also have a special hall displaying China's achievements in tea industry over the past 70 years, with the aim to promote Chinese tea culture and advance the development of the tea industry worldwide.

China is the largest tea producer as well as the largest tea market in the world.

The expo is being organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and the Zhejiang Government.

More than 1,500 Chinese and overseas tea enterprises participated in the expo last year, with over than 4,000 orders being signed and 103 million yuan worth of tea trade deals inked ($16.2 million).
