Many of the lotuses in the West Lake are withering away these days.

However, there’re still some red lotuses that are in full bloom now. These lotuses are called “China Red”, a new breed specially cultivated for China Pavilion of Shanghai World Expo. To greet Hangzhou G20 Summit in 2016, “China Red” was introduced and planted in a small area in the West Lake.
