The first winter migrant bird, a cormorant was found at the ‘Three pools mirroring the moon’ Island of the West Lake on Sept. 2, marking the city to approach the autumn. Cormorants are always the first batch of winter migrant birds settle down in Hangzhou every Autumn. The West Lake is a typical habitat for winter migrant birds. They are coming from Northern China and will spend a whole winter here. More migrant birds will successively come to Hangzhou. Larus vegaes usually arrived in Hangzhou for a short day and then went south sequentially. Only around 30-40 larus vegaes will winter in Hangzhou. Mandarin ducks, anas creccs and mergansers are followed. |
