A group of foreign students from the Yenching Academy of Peking University visited the Wensli Group, one of China's largest silk-producing companies in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Jan 10 to see for themselves the delights of Chinese silk.

"It feels like cloud," said a Spanish student who was amazed by the duplex printing skills on a mulberry silk scarf and hailed it "unbelievable", adding that he is a lover of Chinese art, especially the technique of embroidery.

The Belt and Road Initiative is affecting the whole world, said a British student who is impressed by the launch of a freight service connecting China and Europe, passing through London in the process.

As China opens wider to the outside world, it is hopoed that talents from all over the world can have a deeper understanding of Chinese culture, said He Yafei, a professor from the academy.

Later that day, the group also visited Xixi park of China's e-commerce giant Alibaba Group and Lingyin Temple in Hangzhou.

Founded in 2014, the Yenching Academy of Peking University aims to build bridges between China and the world through an array of interdisciplinary courses in Chinese Studies for outstanding graduates from all over the globe. To date, the academy has recruited over 440 Chinese and foreign students from 73 countries and regions around the world.
