Open to talented fashion designers from both home and abroad, the competition has received hundreds of works from 10 countries and regions across the world since it launched in May, including from the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Canada and South Korea. A total of 20 works made it to the final after a fierce competition. "Young Og", a creative work designed by Li Yiyang from Xi'an Polytechnic University, won first prize. "Rather than a competition, the event is more of a presentation on the development of women's fashion in the city," said a local official. Chai Shimin, mayor of Xiacheng district, said that he hopes the competition can provide a platform for talented designers and introduce more of them to the district. Having been successfully held in Hangzhou for 11 years, the China International Women's Fashion Design Competition has evolved into one of the most professional and creative fashion events in China.
