The full name of the old handsome guy is Robert van der Hilst. He is a Dutch photographer. His connection with Hangzhou began with a "Living in Hangzhou Program." The scheme was launched by the writer Yu Hua, who planned to invite one or two world renowned writers or photographers to live in Hangzhou and create works here. Robert and the other German writer Hans o Booker were the first artists that were invited.
Marco Polo, the great travel writer gave high praise to Hangzhou as early as the 13th century. Robert described Hangzhou in his eyes by the words "beautiful, livable, sophisticated building, beautiful West Lake".
This coincides right with Hangzhou's construction concept of "elegant, harmonious, open and grand". "The Edward international writing program" which won good reputation around the world made the small town Edward become a famous cultural landmark of the United States. Now, Hangzhou has the "Living in Hangzhou Program" which will probably attract more and more artists from all over the world. By then, China will also have a famous cultural landmark-- Hangzhou. |
