CCTV News  The d’Estaing family announced on the night of 2^nd December local time that Valéry Giscard d’Estaing died at age 94, due to complications arising from COVID-19. The funeral is for closest families and friends only.

Giscard was hospitalized in Tours, France on 17^th November due to heart problems. Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, born in 1926 and known as “father of European Constitution” and “father of modern Euro”, ruled France from 1974 to 1981. He visited China in 1980.
