Sanitation staff and delivery riders were at the forefront to experience HZ’s stifling summer days. They soon found themselves in bitter cold conditions and announced the coming of winter.

Convenience stores and restaurants by the Tiancheng road in HZ were the first to receive the message, and offered them places to rest, free hot water to keep them warm, and food at large discount in response.

“So long as we find a shop nearby, we can warm up the prepared meals there without the need to head to the designated station, which sometimes can be several kilometers far.”says a sanitation worker.

The delivery riders, who used to gather at the front doors and wait for their orders, are also invited to come in, says the notice put up on these shops.

In summertime, they were served with free cold tea by the same stores.
