It's the dragon fruit picking season.These days, Hong Weiming, the owner of Hongfeng family farm in Zhongshan Township, Tonglu County, was in the greenhouses early in the morning picking ripe dragon fruits and pruning the redundant fruit trees.

This dragonfruit planting base, located in Longxi Villageof Zhongshan Township, covers an area of about1.65 acres.The base is mainly planted with dragonfruitand a small amount of strawberries.

“Last year, my daughter came back here to learn about the agricultural economy and policies. She decided to start her own business, to cultivate dragon fruit with the support of our village,”said Hong.

In recent years, Zhongshan Township has organically integrated the development of fruit-featured agriculture town, rural leisure, and guesthouses, as well as built a comprehensive agricultural high-quality area based on characteristic fruit industry.

Hong said these dragon fruits, introduced from Taiwan, are characterized by their plump shape, high sweetness and high output.

At present, dragon fruit is mainly made into fruit gift baskets or picked by tourists in Hongfeng Farm, implementing the sales mode combining online and offline.

Each tree is harvested about twice a year, during the Mid-Autumn Festival and at the end of the year.
