A mythical bird named Feifei (in Chinese: 飞飞) has been unveiled as the mascot of the 2022 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou on April 16. Feifei is inspired by a character based on the ancient Liangzhu Culture in Hangzhou, which is less commonly known by many. Feifei is designed to represent the spirit of athletes with the disability since penguin is hailed as the messenger of spreading culture and happiness. In addition, the character Fei in Chinese implies flying like a bird. The “i” on the crown of the bird's head decoration is the initial of“intelligence”, symbolizing the Internet gene of Hangzhou. There is a loop consisting of 45 dots on the bird's breast, representing the 45 members of the Asian paralympic committee. |
