Operated by Cainiao Network, the first direct cargo charter aircraft was launched on 31 March to link Hangzhou with Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is the first cargo route from Zhejiang to Kuala Lumpur, marking a key milestone in the realization of the eWTP’s vision to provide access to markets between Zhejiang and Southeast Asia. “The new route will be five flights per week,” said Yang Haiming, Cainiao Tmall overseas logistics department manager, “The first flight has carried ten thousands of parcels to Southeast Asia, including clothing, masks and other supplies.” In addition, parts of medical supplies were also donated by the charter flights. It will be easier to transport commodities from Southeast Asian to China with the help of the newly opened route, which will reduce the whole logistics time to 4 hours from one month. Cainiao also plans to launch 200 chartered flights to send goods between two countries.
