Within recent days, the reconstruction of 5.8-kilometer Gongkang Road in the North of the city has been completed and fully opened to the public. Meanwhile, Hangzhou's first special lane designed for residue trucks also has been put into use, in a bid to solve three problems: “Firstly, in regard to the design of road structure, reinforced concrete combined with heavy load asphalt is adopted to improve the load-carrying capacity; secondly, the partitions are set between the general lanes and special lanes to minimize the adverse impact on safety and environment; thirdly, the special rainwater collection port and spray dust removal device are set in the special lanes to protect the environment,” said Fang Taoyin, director of the city's engineering department. As the special lane has been operated, the traffic condition is effectively improved. "From home to work, there is no longer a dusty road here," Yang, a resident who drives to work every day is delighted with the circumstance. This 3-kilometers special lane is from Shangtang Road to Kangqiao Road, with a width of 4.5 meters, which is 1 meter wider than the regular lane. The design speed is still 60 km/h. |
