The seventh Wuzhen Theatre Festival, with the tagline "Emerge", will be held in Wuzhen, Zhejiang province from Oct 25 to Nov 3. 28 theaters from 13 countries and regions will be staged in the town. Five categories of special plays will be staged this year with both master's works and avant-garde plays. Three Sisters, a Russian drama written by Anton Chekhov and directed by Yury Butusov, will be the opening theatre on Oct 25. The festival, initiated by Chen Xianghong, Huang Lei, Stan Lai and Meng Jinghui and organized by Culture Wuzhen Co., Ltd, has been held every year since 2013 and has rapidly become a landmark event with influence around Asia and the world. The “Ancient Town Carnival” is a special unit of the event, aiming to bring the theater art to the water town. Artists can be found all over the Xizha Scenic Spot with thousands performances. Tickets for the plays are sold on the official website (www.wuzhenfestival.com) and Damai (www.damai.cn), an online ticketing platform. The organizing committee of the festival will reserve five to twenty tickets for each play(the number according to the size of the theater), which are sold for people queuing on-site. |
