There was rapturous applause at the packed Moscow Kremlin Theater on August 16 when Chinese drama dance show To Meet The Grand Canal was was staged. The group is touring to Russia from August 14 to 24. As a part of the "Meeting World Famous Canal" world tour began in 2017, the group has met seven world's famous canals including the Canal du Midi, the Kiel Canal, the Suez Canal, the Corinth Canal, the Erie Canal, and the Panama Canal. This time the group will meet the Moscow Canal. Directed by Director Cui Wei, Hangzhou Opera and Dance Drama Theatre presents To Meet the Grand Canal, a dance production which took three years to create and develop. Cui Wei is known for her numerous productions and has won seven major awards for national dance performance and the Mandarin Director Award. Intertwining tradition and modernity, combining history and future and coupled with the great love of nature, this performance not only showcases the historical style of the Grand Canal but also strongly expresses the accurate and complete thought and judgment of the real fate of the cultural heritage. |
