The first meeting of the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa) Working Group on New and Renewable Energy took place in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on Dec 11.  

Zhejiang Windey Co Ltd, a leading Chinese wind turbine manufacturer, was one of the organizers of the event.

Headquartered in Hangzhou, Windey is a national hi-tech enterprise committed to the development, production and sales of grid-connected wind turbines.

As the oldest wind turbine manufacturer in China, Windey had installed over 5,000 sets of wind turbines across the nation and neighboring countries such as Iran and Kazakhstan by the end of January 2018, with the maximum lifespan of each turbine set at 17 years.

"Wind power is the major power generation of new energy, and I hope that the BRICS countries can strengthen cooperation in the field of wind power and contribute to the governance of the global ecological environment," said Pan Donghao, deputy chief engineer of Zhejiang Windey.

Hosted by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the conference gathered representatives and government officials from the energy departments of the BRICS countries to share insights into the development of new and renewable energy.
