French households consumption of manufactured products lost 1.1 percent in November, its lowest level since January 2014, mainly due to sharp drop in energy expenditure, official data showed on Wednesday.

At the end of last month, French consumers spent less to buy energy goods as temperature began to rise, driven down expenditures in fuel by 5.6 percent, the national statistics office INSEE noted in its monthly report.

Consumption of textile and leather products recorded negative trend for the third consecutive month. The figure fell by 4.7 percent over the period "as a result of mild temperatures."

After a 3.5-percent drop in October, car purchases inched up by 0.1 percent in November while the consumption of food products rose by 0.6 percent, the first such increase since June 2015, Insee said.

Consumption of manufactured products accounts for 25 percent of the country's total consumption of processed goods and services.
