Crested Goshawk first found in Tonglu

Recently, Tonglu Forestry Bureau has received a call saying that a giant bird was found at villager’s front door in Jinxi village, Chengnan Street. Staffs of Wildlife Conservation workstation got there as soon as possible.

The big bird was identified as Crested Goshawk. It has long tails, smaller head and plumper compared to owls. A pinch of feather on its head top may stand up sometimes, just like a phoenix’s head.

Crested Goshawkis a middle sized raptorin the family Accipitridae, under State protection (category II). This is the first time it is found in Tonglu.
