The founding ceremony of Westlake University was held in Hangzhou on 20th October. This first university symbolizes the birth of a new research-oriented type in the new China, which is founded by non-governmental sectors and supported by the state. Five Nobel Winners including Professor Chenning YANG and 50 university presidents or deputies at home and abroad were present at the ceremony.
