The vibrant night economy of Xiaoshan district, Hangzhou is bouncing back after stimulus efforts made by the district. In July, Hangzhou released its list of the top 10 night economy landmarks, which included two in Xiaoshan district. The district again ranked sixth in the night economy index report released by the government of Zhejiang in September. Over the summer, Xiaoshan district launched a night tour on Xianghu Lake to further unleash the district's economic potential at night. Various consumptions areas have been set up as part of the carefully-designed tour. Qianjiang Century City in Xiaoshan also started making efforts in September to boost its night economy following several other successful attempts in the district. More than 150 stalls were then set up at the night market selling handicrafts, toys, clothing and other distinctive products. Other areas in the district are now formulating plans to boost their night economy in order to meet the growing demands of residents. In July, data released by Ele.me and Koubei, a unit of Chinese tech titan Alibaba Group Holding Ltd, showed that the number of orders made at night in Hangzhou increased by 50 percent since the same period last year. The data also showed that Xiaoshan ranked first in terms of the number of delivery orders made by residents at night. |
