Geely's Satellites Near Completion
en.hangzhou.com.cn 2020/04/30 15:53 City Express

Hangzhou-based automaker Geely Holding Group, starting its construction on an intelligent satellite production and testing center in March, announced on April 24 that its first two satellites entered the full verification period, which was expected to start the satellite-rocket fit experiment and be launched at Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China by the end of this year. The satellites will be able to provide centimeter-accurate positioning.

It will also introduce an open artificial intelligence platform, OmniCloud, to utilize the high-precision positioning data collected from the satellites to support future mobility, intelligent manufacturing, unmanned drone flights, and urban management, among other applications.

Geely's expansion into low-orbit satellites marks a significant milestone in the creation of a three-dimensional mobility ecosystem. Low-orbit satellites will be able to offer high-speed internet connectivity, highly precise navigation, and cloud computing capabilities.
