The Number of Ride-Hailing Apps Soaring to 17 in Hangzhou
en.hangzhou.com.cn 2019/12/19 14:20 City Express

If you often take the ride-hailing, you may notice that more and more ride-hailing brands are currently available to choose from, while the newly-launched online car-hailing apps have caused a number of ride-hailing drivers to encounter their Waterloo in the career.

According to the information, the newly launched brands include T3 Taxi, Duocai Taxi, Henghao Taxi and Sunny Taxi. As iestimated, the number of ride-hailing apps will reach 17 in the following months.

Mr. Liang took the ride-hailing a few days ago. He brings forward that the driver was complaining to him about this change in the market. According to Liang, the driver just resigned as a cook and turnedto be a ride-hailing driver four months ago. Here is the complaint, “He used to work 8 to 9 hours a day and earn 8,000 RMB a month. Now he has to drive about 11 hours a day to make a similar amount. He was doubting whether being a driver is a proper decision.”

This problem has troubled many ride-hailing drivers. Some of them have complained to the relevant authorites, since the increasing number of ride-hailing apps will bring down the income and reduce the orders allocated to them.

Driver Liu has driven Didi for a year. It was three months ago that he registered another ride-hailing app. He said that the increase in number of ride-hailing apps have caused his Waterloo in terms of monthly income. Currently, the revenue of riding for two companies is comparable to the early time when he only rode for Didi company.

“The platform charges us 25% of daily income as the service fee. In the past, it was normal to earn 400 RMB a day, but currently, the maximum amount is around 200 RMB.” Liu stated that some of his colleagues have registered in multiple companies, in the meanwhile, the current workload is way higher than it was previously.

The number of ride-hailing apps is reportedly expected to increase to 17 in the following months. To draw more customers, many of them gave out attractive discounts and coupons.

However, there are gaps in service quality and the starting fare among different ride-hailing companies. For example, for the same distance and same car model, the cost could be any amount between 29 RMB and 16 RMB. Some ride-hailing cars failed to arrive at the agreed location on time. In addition, drivers who behave rudely and drive dangerously are common in those newly-launched ride-hailing cars.
