The 2019 science and technology talent month of Yuhang district opened in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, on May 15. Running until the end of June, the talent event will feature an array of activities revolving around innovation and entrepreneurship, forums, high-level talent services, and school-enterprise cooperation. The opening ceremony witnessed the launch of a Swedish talent introduction base, which is designed to serve as a platform for exchange and cooperation between Chinese and Swedish talents and enterprises, as well as to promote bilateral cooperation in science and technology. In recent years, Yuhang has established eight talent workstations in overseas countries, including in the United Kingdom, the United States and France. The Swedish project is its ninth base. China and Sweden have great potential for cooperation in scientific and technological innovation. The Chinese market is attractive to Swedish small and medium-sized enterprises who are major players in scientific and technological innovation, said Wang Yongan, deputy head of the Swedish overseas service center, adding that the Swedish companies need an accredited platform that is familiar with the Chinese market to help them get into China. Five leading innovation and entrepreneurship teams in Zhejiang province were awarded 40 million yuan ($5.78 million) at the opening ceremony. To date, Yuhang has introduced a total of 752 hi-tech enterprises, 14 leading innovation and entrepreneurship teams in Zhejiang province and 143 national-level overseas talents. |
