As Asian Para Games Hangzhou 2022 is approaching, accessible facilities in venues for the event successively completed renovation and upgrading. 

The concept of Hangzhou Asian Games is “Green, Smart, Economical, Ethical”, which runs through entire process of accessible facility renovation and upgrading. During the renovation of Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Main Stadium and Tennis Centre, the construction team specially developed 304 stainless steel columns to fix and install upward-rotating horizontal grab bars, for the purpose of saving civil engineering renovation cost caused by the adjustment of sanitary ware positions and easy access of impaired citizens.

Many designs in the venue are very considerate for physically impaired citizens and the blind.

Considering that impaired citizens have limited mobility, most of accessible toilets are not far from wheelchair seats. In Hangzhou Olympic Sports Centre Main Stadium, it is designed with flashing signals at the door of the accessible toilets. Inside the toilets, there are Chinese and English broadcasts, hand washing sinks less than 80 centimeters in height, quite a few handrails on the wall and low-level alarms. Even floor selection button of the elevator has been adjusted so that it is within easy reach of those who are in wheelchairs.
