A Song Dynasty (960-1279) cultural experience activity was recently held at Jiande Museum in Xin'anjiang subdistrict, Jiande county-level city, Hangzhou.

The activity opened with a song played on the guqin, a seven-string traditional Chinese instrument, and featured activities related to intangible culture heritage items including the making of pastries that were served only in royal courts.

"The making of pastries served in Song Dynasty royal courts was recognized as an intangible culture heritage item with both historic and market values," said an official at Xin'anjiang subdistrict.

Xin'anjiang subdistrict is planning to integrate Song Dynasty culture into its preparations for the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022, said the official.
