Hangzhou, China, February 14, 2022: The Acting President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Raja Randhir Singh, has offered a new year’s greeting to the Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC).
In the latest edition of HAGOC’s official publication, Hangzhou 2022, Raja Randhir says the start of an Asian Games year is always a special occasion for the OCA and the Olympic sports movement throughout the continent.
“Thanks to the efforts of HAGOC, the Chinese Olympic Committee and the municipal and provincial governments of Hangzhou city and Zhejiang province, the OCA is confident that the 19th Asian Games will be a big success and write another rich chapter in our success story,” Raja Randhir says in a special new year’s edition of Hangzhou 2022 to mark the Lunar New Year of the Tiger.
“To be successful in sport it requires teamwork, determination and dedication – and we have witnessed these three qualities in abundance throughout HAGOC as you have continued to work towards your goal and your dream in extremely challenging and difficult circumstances in the past two years.”
Raja Randhir concluded: “The 19th Asian Games will bring the reward for your efforts as you build a platform on which all of Asia can excel.”
There are also messages from Timothy Fok, OCA Vice President for East Asia, and from the President of the Chinese Olympic Committee, Gou Zhongwen, who is also Minister of the General Administration of Sport of China and of HAGOC, as well as other leading sports and government dignitaries.
Volume Six of Hangzhou 2022 is packed with messages of support from leading athletes in China and from around Asia as the countdown continues to the 19th Asian Games, which will run from September 10-25, 2022.
There will be 40 sports, 61 disciplines and 482 events in 55 competition venues around Hangzhou and Zhejiang province in eastern China, as Hangzhou will be supported by five co-host cities.
