Hangzhou 2022 hosts completion ceremony and media open day at Asian Games Village

Hangzhou, China, December 30, 2021: The Hangzhou Asian Games Organising Committee (HAGOC) held a completion ceremony and media open day at the Asian Games Village on Wednesday, December 29.

The ceremony marked the completion of construction of all buildings in the Asian Games Village and the open day allowed the media to walk around the complex and view the infrastructure and related projects.

The Asian Games Village comprises three main components: the Athletes Village, Technical Officials Village and Media Village. It is located on the south bank of the Qiantang River, 3km from the Hangzhou Olympic and International Expo Centre – the main hub of the 19th Asian Games.

The main Asian Games Village in Hangzhou can accommodate around 20,000 Games personnel – 10,400 athletes and team officials from National Olympic Committees, 3,800 technical officials and 5,000 media.

The main AGV will be supported by five satellite villages throughout Zhejiang province in eastern China to service the 40 sports, 61 disciplines and 482 events in 55 competition venues for the 19th Asian Games, which will run from September 10-25, 2022.

*HAGOC also reports that three more competition venues have passed the inspection test related to the functioning of sports events: the Qiantang Roller Skating Centre, Fuyang Water Sports Centre and Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre.

Fourteen gold medals will be up for grabs at Qiantang Roller Skating Centre, 30 gold medals at Fuyang Water Sports Centre in rowing, canoe sprint and canoe slalom, and 47 gold medals at Fuyang Yinhu Sports Centre in shooting, archery and modern pentathlon.
