The Grand Canal Asian Games Park located in Gongshu district, Hangzhou recently passed a "zero waste" check, local media reported on Dec 20.

The park, which includes a hockey field and a stadium, will host the table tennis and breakdance competitions during the Asian Games Hangzhou 2022.

Hangzhou announced at a briefing on Nov 25 that the city will carry out "zero waste" measures to create an environmentally-friendly city ahead of the Games. These measures include recycling and reusing resources and preventing the generation of waste that would harm the environment and people's health.

Hangzhou authorities said that the city is aiming to become a national "zero waste" city by 2022.
