A few days ago, Zhejiang (Hangzhou) International Museum Day Activity Kick-off Ceremony & Hangzhou Linping Museum Operation Opening Ceremony was held in Linping District People's Plaza. This also marked the official opening of Linping Museum after three years of renovation.

Linping Museum is located in Linping District People’s Plaza, covering a total construction area of 21,000 square meters. The West Wing of the museum, designed in the shape of a jade carved ornament, mainly displays the local history of Linping. The newly-built East Wing, with Jiangnan dwellings as the main elements, is inspired by the paintings of Jiangnan watertowns by Wu Guanzhong. The museum also has a cultural complex with functions of cultural & creative bookstore and leisure bar, and offers a variety of programs for citizens and tourists to have fun. 

According to the relevant person in charge, the museum will display heavyweight exhibits, including the canoe and ox footprint dating back to 5,000 and 4,000 years ago respectively, to present the formation and evolution of the territory, economy and culture of Jiangnan. Based on Linping Museum, Linping District will build a bridge between the cultural transmission and the society in the future.
