With every touch of your finger, you can get books delivered to your doorstep. This is the latest service provided by Hangzhou Public Library for readers, which allows people to borrow books from the library online with no need to leavetheir homes.
This month, Hangzhou Public Library launches a Free Delivery service inspired by the nationwide "Double 11" online shopping festival. During Nov. 1 and 30, readers in Hangzhou who borrow three or more books from the online library at a time will get free delivery.
Books can be borrowed through the "Hangzhou service" App (in Chinese:杭州办事服务), the Hangzhou Public Library life service on Alipay, or the Hangzhou Public Library WeChat public platform.
In addition, since Nov. 1, Hangzhou Public Library, as the first pilot in the province, takes the lead in realizing the easy access to borrow and return services between the provincial and municipal libraries, which means that books borrowed from Zhejiang Library can be returned to Hangzhou Public Library, and vice versa.
In the future, the service will be rolled out to morepublic librariesin Zhejiang one after another. It is expected that by the end of this year, Zhejiang Library will have completed the data connection with libraries in Ningbo, Wenzhou, Shaoxing, and Taizhou for the new service and by June next year, borrowed books can be returned to any public library in Zhejiang province.
