Recently, people who visit West Lake to enjoyed the fragrance of Osmanthus see cherry blossoming in Prince Bay Park. Some of these cherry blossoms are in full bloom, while others are in bud.
In normal conditions, cherry blossoms bloom in the spring in March and April. Why do they bloom in this season?
According to staff of the management office of Flower Harbor, these Sakura trees are mainly distributed in windmill area of the Prince Bay Park. At present, there are 5 to 6 blooming Sakura trees, mostly sporadic open.
These days, the abundant rainfall and the relatively cool temperature are similar to the weather in April. In addition, some Sakura trees are near the water edge. The temperature and humidity condition meet the requirements of blossoms. In that way, the phenomenon of blooming out of season appeared.
However, although these cherry trees "bloom twice", but the number and size of this time cannot compare to that in spring. The staff in the Flower Harbor will apply more fertilizer to make sure the cherry will still bloom next spring.
