The 10th Design Intelligence Award (DIA) ceremony took place at the China Academy of Art's Liangzhu campus in Hangzhou on Dec 12.
The event, marking a decade of recognizing excellence in design and innovation, attracted entries from diverse fields including smart transportation, internet of things, artificial intelligence, healthcare, digital tourism, and sustainable energy. Cutting-edge applications such as brain-computer interfaces and virtual reality were also featured, with several projects achieving industry benchmark status.
Since its inception, the DIA has received over 65,000 entries from 87 countries, including more than 6,000 top-tier companies like Google, Microsoft, Boeing, Samsung, and Huawei.
This year's competition, launched on Dec 12, 2024, saw participation from 52 countries and over 1,600 renowned enterprises, with 69 percent of entries being premieres — an increase of 4 percent from the previous year, highlighting both scale and quality improvements.
After rigorous evaluation by 24 judges from nine countries, 440 entries were shortlisted, with 37 finalists competing for the prestigious annual 1-million-yuan ($141,871) grand award.
Additionally, the China Academy of Art signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the Cumulus Association, aiming to leverage their strengths to organize international competitions, student innovation camps, and academic research initiatives. This partnership underscores a commitment to fostering global collaboration and innovation in art and design.
