A few days ago, the second high-speed railway from Shanghai to Hangzhou was approved and would start construction. With a length of about 223.8 km and a designed speed of 350 km/h, it sets up nine railway stations, starts from Shanghaidong Railway Station, passes through Jiaxing, and ends at Hangzhouxi Railway Station. This will promote the interconnection between Hangzhou International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport.
The travel time between Shanghai and Hangzhou is expected to be further shortened in the future. If China’s independently developed “super high-speed trains” and “high-speed flying trains” are operated on Shanghai-Hangzhou High-speed Railway, then it will take only 15-20 minutes to travel from Hangzhou to Shanghai.
In addition, the intercity railway of thewater towntour route, known as the “super metro” of the Yangtze River Delta, is under construction. It starts from Hangzhou International Airport, passes through Haining, Tongxiang, Nanxun, and Wujiang, and ends in Qingpu District of Shanghai, with a speed of 160 km/h, faster than the urban metro. Tourists can take a ride and enjoy the beauty of the water towns in Jiangnan.
