Recently, in Fengshuling Area of Chun'an County in Hangzhou, Cheirotonus jansoni has been discovered for the first time, and there is a male and female beetle.

This rare beetle unique to China is a national second-class protected animal, reputed as thepanda of insect kingdom. The male beetle's forelimb is 8.8 cm long, far exceeding the body length. The male and female beetles present bronze green, withgolden patches.

The species serves as the "natural indicator"for ecosystem health. Its appearance witnesses that the habitat is not polluted and the ecosystem is intact, which benefits from the efforts of local biodiversity conservation.
