On May 25, Hangzhou released Hangzhou Regulation on Construction of Ecological Civilization City, the first local legislation of China themed by the construction of ecological civilization city.

This legislation incorporates carbon footprint management and ecological carbon sink for the first time, and boosts the harmonious coexistence between human beings and nature from three aspects including production, life and ecology.

The release of the regulation coincides with the 20th anniversary of the conceptthat "Lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets", and the upcoming 5th World Congress of Biosphere Reserves, providing a system model for the construction of ecological civilization in megacities.
