The Banshan Lixia Festival opened in Gongshu district, Hangzhou city of Zhejiang province on May 5. Included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2016, the festival, with a series of rituals and customs, celebrates lixia, or Start of Summer, the seventh of the "24 solar terms" in the Chinese lunisolar calendar.
