In Safe Travel 2024, the special program on the evening of that day, Hangzhou’s upgraded version of "giving way to pedestrians at zebra crossings" became a selected case. Besides, Hangzhou launched an initiative of "cars shall give way to pedestrians and pedestrians shall get through fast at zebra crossings" to the cities all over the country.
In September this year, Hangzhou Civilization Office proposed a call for "cars shall give way to pedestrians and pedestrians shall get through fast at zebra crossings". To this end, Hangzhou promotes the comprehensive upgrade of "yielding to pedestrians at zebra crossings" by setting up smart pedestrian crossing signal lamp, civilized traffic guidance post, pedestrian isolation facility, etc.
At present, the comity rate at zebra crossings on main roads in Hangzhou has reached 93.91 percent. The comity rate of buses is up to 99 percent; the comity rate of taxis increases by 15 percent compared with the comity rate before promotion.
