Recently, on the lake of the Lesser Yingzhou Islet in the West Lake Scenic Area, three lotus plants (Victoria regia) have bloomed simultaneously, meaning good luck. (The character for "lotus" (莲) shares the same pronunciation as "lian" (连), which means "continuous")

The lotus is introduced from Xishuangbanna, Yunnan. It is enchanting for its magic flowers, which start out white and turn light red the next day.
