The 2024 Hangzhou Lin'an Half Marathon is set for Oct 20 at 8:00 am with an upgraded scale of 8,000 participants. This includes 4,000 for the half marathon, and 2,000 each for the health run and family run.
The event attracted over 10,000 runners since registration opened on Aug 20, which was a new best for the event. This year also introduced a virtual race option, attracting over 160,000 participants from Sept 20 to Oct 7.
The race will start at Lin'an Renmin Square, with runners passing through landmarks such as Tiaoxi North Street, Keji Avenue, and Dayuan Road, offering a blend of urban culture, scenic landscapes, and tech-driven vitality.
The event also revealed the shirt and medal for this year's race. The medal features the district tree – the ginkgo – and hinges open to reveal Lin'an against a scenic background.
Additionally, the mascot Yueyue, inspired by the South China sika deer and ginkgo elements, made its debut. It represents Lin'an's ecological diversity and sportsmanship.
The event aims to highlight Lin'an's strengths in innovation, ecology, and culture, creating a unique marathon that connects the region's heritage with its future in technology.
