A wellness market opened a few days ago in Xin’anjiang Square, offering Jiande residents an escape from the summer heat. This event featured a wide range of health-focused activities, including health education, DIY herbal sachet workshops, Chinese herbal tea tastings, TCM consultations, Baduanjin exercises, and first aid demonstrations.
“This market is so cool!” exclaimed Shu, a post-2000s youngster, while sipping a cup of herbal tea. “You can try the extracorporeal shock wave therapy and get massages from top practitioners. It’s the perfect place for someone like me.”
Organized by the Jiande Municipal Health Bureau and Xin’anjiang Sub-district Office, the event aimed to showcase the high-quality public health services available and give the public a firsthand look at advancements in healthcare models and quality.
As the dog days wind down, Dr. Xu Yinxue, a TCM practitioner at Jiande Maternity and Child Health Hospital, offered some timely health advice to Jiande residents. “Don’t overdo it trying to stay cool,” she cautioned. “Stick with your usual summer acupoint herbal patches and moxibustion therapies. And while watermelon is tempting, I recommend opting for more acidic fruits like hawthorn or grapefruit.”
At the market, the reporter noted there were 33 stalls organized into thematic areas. Visitors could seek free advice from top doctors, explore TCM products, taste herbal teas, participate in DIY workshops for making herbal sachets and soaps, watch demonstrations of TCM therapies, and learn Baduanjin techniques. The most popular stall was undoubtedly the one promoting TCM services, with a steady stream of visitors eager to experience TCM physiotherapy.
“This event is an innovative initiative designed to enhance public health services,” explained the head of the Jiande Municipal Health Bureau. “It’s the first time we’ve brought together a variety of medical services in a market setting. We want to provide Jiande residents with a unique opportunity to experience these services firsthand and share their valuable feedback. Our goal is to improve our medical and health offerings to better meet the needs of our citizens.” The bureau plans to build on the success of this event and continue to reform healthcare and introduce new initiatives to benefit citizens. The ultimate goal is to enhance the quality and accessibility of grassroots healthcare, so that residents can enjoy top-notch medical care right in their own neighborhoods, thereby boosting their overall well-being.
