Construction of the Xiaoyuanxi Mountain and Water Sports Park, a new landmark project in Tonglu, Hangzhou, officially began on August 22. This ambitious development is a key part of Tonglu’s cultural tourism development plan.
With a total investment of 3.2 billion yuan, the park is located in Xiaoyuanxi, Sanxin Village, Fengchuan Subdistrict, Tonglu County. Covering 560 mu, it will offer a diverse range of cultural, commercial, and tourism attractions, including a water park, electronic music events, resort hotels, and business, health, and wellness facilities.
“Tonglu’s stunning scenery and rich history, combined with exciting water sports and captivating performances, will create a truly unique experience for visitors,” said Shan Jianhong, chairman of Hangzhou Xiaoyuanxi Cultural Tourism Co., Ltd. The project will be developed in two phases. The first phase, with a total investment of 1.2 billion yuan, will include a hotel in the mountains, a reception center, venues for electronic music events and other shows, a water park, and an upscale creekside villa resort. In the second phase, a former mine will be transformed into a cliffside hotel complex, setting a new benchmark for abandoned mine revitalization.
As Tonglu’s first water park, the project will be open year-round, offering immersive shows and a diverse range of amenities, including business conference facilities, upscale dining, and 500 guest rooms across creekside, mountain, and hot spring resort hotels.
In recent years, Fengchuan Subdistrict Fengchuan Subdistrict has embarked on a transformative tourism initiative focusing on ‘one street, one creek, two roads, and multiple scenes.’ Our goal is to elevate the aesthetics of our countryside, roads, rivers, lakes, towns, and homes,” said Yang Zhiqiang, secretary of the Party Work Committee of Fengchuan Subdistrict. “With an investment of over 100 million yuan, this project represents a major milestone in the development of Fengchuan’s cultural tourism and sports industries.”
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Tonglu County also announced the establishment its cultural tourism think tank. With the high-speed rail reducing travel time between Hangzhou and Tonglu to just 18 minutes, tourists will have more time to explore the area. A representative from Tonglu County’s Culture, Media, Tourism, and Sports Bureau stated that the Hangzhou-Wenzhou high-speed railway will dramatically boost Tonglu’s tourism industry, turning the county from a seasonal destination into a year-round tourist attraction.
