Yuhang’s Gaoqiao Yungang Park has won two prestigious awards at the 2024 MUSE Design Awards and the Asia-Pacific IAI Design Award. The park received the Gold Award in the Urban Renewal category for Interior Design at the MUSE Design Awards, while its “Zero Carbon Building” earned the Gold Award in the Asia-Pacific IAI Interior Design category.
The MUSE Design Awards, established in New York by the International Awards Associates (IAA), are among the most influential international awards in the creative industry. Renowned for their rigorous judging process and high standards, the MUSE Design Awards are often referred to as the “Oscars of Design”. The IAI Design Award, organized by the Asia-Pacific Designers Federation (APDF), is a prestigious international competition recognized for its innovation.
Gaoqiao Yungang Park, formerly Gaoqiao Industrial Park, was established in 2002. Located just two kilometers from the core area of Hangzhou Future Sci-Tech City, it is among the oldest industrial parks in the region.
The 12-month renewal project preserved the park's overall structure, building forms, and original trees while integrating Alibaba’s green, low-carbon, and smart park standards.
The park’s A1 building, referred to as the “Zero Carbon Building”, employs low-carbon technologies such as high-efficiency roof insulation, energy-efficient air conditioning, energy-saving lighting, and natural lighting systems. Photovoltaic systems help the building achieve a near balance between electricity supply and demand.
Additionally, the renovation process prioritized preserving the park’s original ecological features and significantly reduced carbon emissions during construction and operation. By avoiding demolition and rebuilding, the project saved 79,000 tons of carbon emissions--equivalent to the annual energy consumption of over 9,500 households.
Today, the industrial park has transformed into a comprehensive innovation hub accommodating 5,000 office workers. It features 161 hotel rooms, a 9,000-square-meter commercial plaza, and offers a mix of office, dining, lodging, and cultural experiences.
