The "Shared Journey of Friendship" U.S. Youth Exchange Delegation, composed of about 190 teachers and students from 14 middle schools in seven states of the United States, came to Hangzhou, China. From July 7th to 9th, they visited Hangzhou's West Lake, and senior high schools. These young people communicated with Hangzhou's teachers and students, and built up a good relationship with them.

Hangzhou's wonderful scenery and delicious food impress American students

On the West Lake sightseeing boat, Zenya Kontos, an American student confessed, "Hangzhou is a city full of charm. The boat trip on West Lake made me feel as if I were in a moving landscape painting."

During the meal, another American student Ameela Dawn said, "After tasting Hangzhou cuisine, I couldn't help but praise the local delicacies, especially the Dongpo pork, which was incredibly delicious."

Campus activities enhance cultural exchange between Chinese and Amercian youth

At the senior high schools in Hangzhou, students of the United States and China jointly felt the charm of China's splendid traditional culture. The youth of the United States and China learned from and knew about each other in activities including hand-making of lacquer fan, Chinese knot and woodblock painting, interactive lessons of cucurbit flute, Peking Opera and calligraphy, as well as fitness campaign of table tennis/Taijiquan, to enhance mutual understanding.
