The 2024 China Youth Animation Film Week, a concurrent event of the 20th China International Cartoon and Animation Festival, was held at Art Innotown in Hangzhou's Xihu district on May 26-27.

The event featured three main sections, namely the China Excellent Animation Project Recommendation Meeting, the China Youth Animation Film Week Opening Ceremony, and the Director Innovation Exchange Meeting.

Highlights included presentations of nine top animation projects from across China, the release of six animated games, and a keynote speech by renowned cartoonist Cai Zhizhong titled A Lifetime of Animation.

Over 30 prominent animation directors, producers, new talents, and industry media representatives engaged in 10 different discussions, showcasing the innovative fusion of technology and art and enhancing Hangzhou's reputation as an "animation capital".

The Excellent Animation Project Recommendation Meeting saw animation companies and university teams present their work, including cutting-edge integration of AI and animation. Notably, Moves A Mountain, co-produced by the Beijing Film Academy and Interactive Pictures Co, was highlighted as the world's first fully AI-produced digitally animated film.

At the opening ceremony on May 27, a compilation of previews for upcoming 2024 Chinese animated films were screened, and commemorative awards for animated games were presented, showcasing the vibrant digital audiovisual industry of Art Innotown.

For the past 12 years, Art Innotown in Xihu district has hosted sub-events and concurrent activities for the China International Cartoon and Animation Festival, driving the development of an integrated animation and game industry through its branded events and achieving significant industry results.
