On May 15, a special exhibition was held in Hangzhou Museum to celebrate the upcoming International Museum Day on May 18. The treasures from multiple museums in Hangzhou were on display.
A Stone-carved Star Chart, one of the representative cultural relics of Wuyue Culture, is the most eye-catching. It is currently the earliest stone-carved star chart discovered in the world. On the chart, 217 stars are engraved, and their positions are very accurate.
In addition, Secret Celadon in Yue Kiln, which is unique for its very complicated and fine processing techniques akin to a secret formula, attracts a lot of tourists. The aesthetic characteristic of such porcelain has high degree of fit with the visual sense of Longjing Tea. It stands for the peak of aesthetic appreciation for porcelain during the Tang & Song Dynasties.
At present, there are 224 museums in Hangzhou. This year, 66 municipal-level treasures are selected this year. A series of exhibitions and cultural events will be held to publicize cultural relics.
