Over 120 art galleries and institutions from around the world will team up at the sixth session of Beijing Dangdai, to be open at the National Agriculture Exhibition Center in Beijing from May 23 to 26, showing the growing local art scene and dynamism of international art.
The contemporary art fair was established to show the strength and diversity of home art especially in Beijing, its birthplace and the country's culture center that gathers artists, curators, scholars, collectors and organizations. This year galleries from Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou of Zhejiang province, Hong Kong and Taipei will together picture a broad spectrum of art, addressing the recent developments in the field.
Meanwhile, international attendants from major art hubs such as London, Berlin, Los Angeles, Tokyo and Seoul to join in to initiate exchanges with the home art communities against a globalized context.
An exhibition to focus on the work of artists under the age of 35, curated by Beijing Dangdai's artistic director Bao Dong, will be held from June 7 to Sept 1 at the Times Art Museum in the capital city's western end. It will be a survey of the mentalities and career potentials of the younger generation of art who have come under the limelight these years.
