During May Day holiday, Hangzhou enjoyed booming tourism, with welcoming more than ten million tourists, hitting a record high. Tourists from other places reached 7,090,000, with a year-on-year increase of 11.6 percent. The total consumption of cultural tourism was 10,706 million yuan, up 22 percent compared with last year.
Scenic spots like the West Lake, Songcheng, and Hubin Road Pedestrian Street were packed with crowds, with an average of 2.5 million tourists per day.
Rural tourism was favored as well, attracting 3,545,500 tourists. Hot events included Tonglu Mountain Life Season and Linping Loquat Festival.
In addition, concerts and music festivals drove holiday economy. The three-day Jason Zhang Concert attracted 155,000 fans to Hangzhou. Many music festivals with different themes were staged on the banks of the Grand Canal and Qingshan Lake.
